Syd's top ClassPass studio's in Chicago

I first learned about and joined ClassPass in December 2014 and quickly became addicted. Prior to this, I didn’t really attend many fitness classes and ClassPass changed my workout routine and view on workouts in the best way possible.  I loved it for three reasons:

  1. Group fitness classes are much more motivating to me than individual workouts

  2. I could attend unlimited classes for $99 a month (what a steal)

  3. I could try out studios all over the city to figure out what type of classes I liked

I have to say there were a ton of studios I tried out that I just didn’t vibe with but have found a handful of places I kept wanting to go back to over the years. I’ve completed 580+ classes and have visited over 20 studios sooo I would consider myself somewhat of a ClassPass junky :

Since ClassPass changed their membership tiers and got rid of unlimited monthly classes (it was too good of a deal to last forever), I decided to join a fitness studio directly so I could get a workout in 5-6 days a week. I do keep the lowest ClassPass membership since it gives me flexibility to do classes that my current studio doesn’t offer, take a class with my girlfriends and find a studio when traveling which I’ve done a bunch (what an awesome perk).

Here are a few of my favorite studios on ClassPass in Chicago:

  1. Exhale, Gold Coast: This is the studio I joined full time and LOVE it. Will dedicate another post entirely on this studio. They have barre, yoga, meditation, HIIT and cardio classes. Have also been to a few locations across the country and the workout is consistent.

  2. Page One Pilates, West Loop: Small group Pilates reformer classes (5-7 spots per class). They’re moving to a new, bigger West Loop location soon .

  3. Chill Chicago, River North: Meditation studio in River North that has a cute shop, massage chairs and radiates vibes of “chilling” right when you walk in.  They do 30-45 min meditation classes and very low impact meditation/yoga classes.

  4. Studio Three, River North and Lincoln Park: Once you go Peleton you can’t go back...at least that’s how I feel about spinning these days haha.  Their cycle classes are awesome and also have Yoga/HIIT classes. They have studios in River North and a new location in Lincoln Park.

  5. Lateral Fitness, River North: This is a small boutique gym that has great small group classes. I take their mat pilates class on the reg and their Saturday classes (Inferno 45 and Tabata 45).

  6. Centered on North, Old Town: Small studio that only has a few reformer machines, love it since it’s tiny and instructors are hands on and use traditional pilates/reformer equipment. .

  7. Shred415, multiple locations: If you’re looking for a major cardio workout that’s fast paced, Shred is a great option for you.  30 minutes of the class is on the treadmill and 30 min on the floor with weights. The instructors break up the class so don’t worry you’re not running for 30 minutes straight (for anyone like me that’ hates running :)).

  8. Title Boxing, multiple locations: This is an amazing cardio workout that will leave you sore for days, you work muscles in boxing that you have never felt before and it hurts so good. You will need wraps which can be purchased at the studio and gloves are provided.  Expect to leave dripping in sweat.

  9. The Bar Method, multiple locations: Barre class that’s a great core workout, the routine is consistent across every class/studio/instructor so you know what to expect after going once.  They are no longer available on ClassPass for downtown Chicago but are available for other cities - I recently went to a class when I was in LA at the West Hollywood location.

What are you favorite studios in the city?
