Where to go Wedding Dress Shopping in Chicago

Lovely.jpg

I have a very simple, classic style and definitely wanted a wedding dress to match it. It was a challenge to find a dress that wasn’t trendy, so I checked out a lot of different wedding boutiques before finding my dress. Below I wrote up what I liked and didn’t like about many of the Chicago wedding dress boutiques I visited.

Hope this helps some brides-to-be focus their time and energy when they venture to find the perfect dress!

  • VWidon - I found my dress here after driving by and calling to make an appointment. I had never heard of VWidon, but this designer, actually a husband and wife team, is amazing. The dresses are simple, structured and all have something that stands out about them. They will also customize the dress to make it exactly what you want. The material is extremely high quality for the price point and the best part is that they will make the dress to your body and measurements (unlike other places that just ship you your closest size). I can’t wait to show you all my dress!

  • BHLDN - Probably one of the most fun boutiques to go to since they have so many accessories and non-wedding dresses to browse. They also equip you and all your girls with bubbly! The price point is great, but the quality and style just weren’t there for me.

  • Jenny Yoo - Although I really love some of Jenny Yoo’s simple dresses, the service here was horrible. They don’t let you look at dresses and pick out what you like, rather they bring you options. My assigned stylist just wasn’t hearing me so everything I tried on was far from my style - even after showing pictures of exactly the dresses I wanted to try on. Additionally, a friend of Sydney’s bought her wedding dress here and when it arrived the size didn’t work. The boutique offered her zero options on how to move forward. Really disappointing boutique.  - I wouldn’t waste your time here.

  • Nordstrom - A good place to start to get a feel for a lot of different designers and types of dresses. The downtown wedding suite closed, so you have to go to Oakbrook. Nothing stood out to me here - just a basic department store experience.

  • Alice in Ivory - This wedding boutique was amazing and I absolutely loved the staff. The dresses unfortunately were not my style - they are a lot more detailed than I wanted, but I would send any of my friends here. The space is clean, the staff is friendly and they definitely make you feel comfortable. Highly recommend!

  • Lovely - I love their dress selection and almost bought my dress here. The staff is friendly and they make sure you feel comfortable. My biggest complaint about this boutique is that it's pretty run down and they have a bit of a spider problem. I have been here for myself and for friends and bugs were always clinging onto dresses. I wouldn’t let that hold you back since the dress selection is great and they have a few exclusive designers.

  • Viero Bridal - The best part about this boutique is that they will custom make you the dress of your dreams. They are extremely friendly and have a wide selection of dresses - they just weren’t my style. Lots of lace, beading and detailing. If that is your style and you want something custom (for around $3k) this is a great option!
